During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Shaolin disciple Hong Xiguan went to Guangzhou to pass on Shaolin martial arts in order to continue the legacy of master Cai Jiuyi. In the process of fighting against different enemies such as Wu Sangui forces, Imperial forces, and Guangdong boxers, Hong Xiguan gradually integrated Qi Jiajun Kungfu, Shaolin Kungfu, and Guangdong local boxing in the late Ming Dynasty to create the “Hongmen” that gathered the strengths of a hundred sects.
